Strategies for music in expressive and receptive language

To be able to communicate with a learner with autism, it is important for the music educator to examine their delivery of the music material and do constant self-reflection. The music educator should attempt to extend the conversation for as long as possible in order to increase reciprocity.

Auditory sensitivity can be problematic for the autistic learner in music class. Music is often too loud. Including visual directions in the music, the class might be a successful way of communication via music.

Auditory dysfunction is often an indication of a language developmental issue and a reason for slow progress in receptive language.
