With more than 30 years of teaching experience. Her studies started with a Music degree and postgraduate study in Music Education. Then followed the Honors degree in Special Needs Education, Doctorate in Special Needs Education as well as a further 7 years of qualifications and areas of study in psychology, music therapy, Research in Dyslexia, Autism, Sensory Integration Dysfunctions together with full-time Education and Training. Doctor Horn was the founder and head of the private school Veritas Akademie (Pty) Ltd.
In support of her qualifications, courses and training in, among others, Emotional IQ, Emotional Trauma, Floor-time Techniques workshop for Autism and Integrated Learning Therapy I form part of Doctor Horn’s training and background. However, it doesn’t stop here, she is still very busy with further research in music as a support strategy.
The development of the young learner is key to her daily functionality. Kleuterklawers was the first contact with the young learners at a pre-primary level of education with music incorporated in the daily program. Then followed Do-Re-Me Pre-Primary school which accommodated babies from 6 months up to Grade R learners.
Over a period of time, during weekly sessions as a Remedial therapist, it was concluded that remedial therapy or intervention offered once a week does not have the desired effect as research agrees that successful support must be provided at least five days in a row to contribute value to development. Therefore, Veritas Akademie was started as a school.
